AirDesign Exta — Parakite

AirDesign's first Parakite — a hybrid between paraglider and speed-wing for soaring, thermalling and Hike & Fly.

The Exta opens a new discipline between paragliding and parakiting: a low-aspect-ratio wing controlled entirely through two integrated handles acting on the B- and C-risers, with no speed bar at all. It carries EN 926-1 structural certification only (an 800 daN shock-load and 8G sustained-load test) — there is no EN 926-2 A/B/C/D flight-behaviour class, so the Exta sits outside AirDesign's usual beginner-to-expert progression ladder and is aimed at pilots with regular, active-flying experience. By design it cannot do big ears or a B-line stall; the spiral dive is the wing's rapid-descent technique. Pyramid-shaped D-lines tighten to actively assist re-opening after a frontal collapse. Available in four sizes (12, 16, 18, 21), all rated for solo use under 120 kg all-up weight — sizes 18 and 21 are moderate enough for supervised parakite instruction, while 12 and 16 are for expert pilots only. Tandem flight and water-towing (kitesurf, kitefoil, kiteboard) are explicitly prohibited.
